Blue Marbles and Other Spherical Objects
Blue Marbles and Other Spherical Objects is a short film made as a reimagined surveillance brand infomercial.It uses the imagery, symbols, and data of neural network based surveillance systems and existing surveillance brand commercials as found footage and training datasets. The film looks at the assumptions about human vision, knowledge, and image production and examines the ways we have become embedded into these systems ourselves. The surveillance network is making demands on the objects of surveillance. This film speculates on what these demands are by translating the images of surveillance brand commercials through generative adversarial networks to produce new hybrid and uncanny images of a surveilled present.
